Getting the Christmas Tree

As soon as Thanksgiving is over, I am ready to get the Christmas tree.  I love Christmas, and the feeling that the tree brings into our little living room.  This year, Grandma and Grandpa are home from their mission to go with us!  And Ammon and Leslie live close enough to come, too.

It rained all night the night before we went.  But we knew there'd be snow in the mountains just behind us, so we suited up in our snow gear and packed all 9 of us into the 9-seater suburban.  This was the first time we had gone anywhere as a family of 9!  That's document worthy right there.

It had stopped raining and was a gorgeous blue skied day.  We headed up the mountain dirt road, and when we got to the corner where the snow usually starts, sure enough, there was fresh snow.
It
was
gorgeous!
Really, pictures do not do it justice.

We had chains on the Suburban, and were in 4-wheel drive, but still almost got stuck.  We parked and walked.  I was anxious to get into the sunlight.  I love sun and snow together.

Some snow must've gotten on my lens, cuz all my pictures have a blur in the same spot.

Ollie stopped to eat some snow.

My cute sister-in-law with her girls:

My nephew:

Weston took the chance of getting stuck and drove further up so that he could turn around.  He didn't get stuck, luckily.

So fun and so pretty!

Grandma and Grandpa got right to it and found their tree.

We get distracted easily when there is fun involved.
"To Narnia!"
Actually it was "To Narni-uh", because they hit something on the "uh" and stopped hard and fast at the bottom and lurched forward.

Um, brrr!

Who needs a water bottle when you can eat fresh mountain snow?

Grandpa playing with the kids (or actually maybe he was fixing her boot):

We picked "that tree right there".

Weston was in the car with the little 2 (he wasn't feeling very well either), so Spencer sawed the tree down and dragged it to the car.  What a man!

Jiles tumbling down hill:

We're having fun, ain't we?

The snow was falling off the trees by the time we left.

G&G got stuck, but thankfully we were able to pull them out with the Suburban without a problem.

We got it home, put on the Christmas jams, and rocked out as we decorated our happy little tree.
