We hosted a barn dance for our ward (church group). It was hot, but a lot of fun. It was a pot luck event (the best idea ever) and some people brought dutch ovens with their dish, others brought other things, like salads and casseroles and homemade fresh ice cream from raw milk and agave - yummy. Weston made a raspberry cobbler in our dutch oven, which I heard was good.
Our youth group came out a few days before and helped clean and decorate the barn. It was fast. I witnessed the saying, "Many hands make light work,"coming true before my eyes that evening.
The grub was delish, the dancin' was swangin' (and sweaty), as was the rope climbin', motorcycle riding, and everything else that went on.

When the sun stopped heating the west door, and fell behind the mountain, we opened the door up and the breeze came right in. It cooled down from 100 degrees to 80 degrees in no time. It would've been nice to have had people stay longer, but the time was up. The clean up crew came in and cleaned up faster than we set up. Some of the teens stayed the longest doing dance tricks with the music still blaring (our friend has a great sound system that he brought and set up - see the speakers in the background?).

It stays light for so long here in the Summer. But I was exhausted and so ready to sit down and put my feet up. This was actually the day that we got home from Great Grandpa's funeral. We got home at 4 something and people began showing up around 5 something. It was fun, though, and I was glad that everything was already set up and ready to go (for the most part).

| Jiles started out with boots and a shirt. |
After pretty much everyone left, Zoe discovered some cupcakes that a later-comer had brought.
And then Jiles discovered Zoe's discovery and partook as well.

I left the banner up and the hay bales out. The banner was just too pretty and took too long to make and put up to take down after just a few hours. I did bring the blankets and afghans in, though. And I found some white lights on sale to put up in there for next time; the other ones were our friends' lights. I want to have another party/dance/something before it gets cold. It's fun to decorate a barn. Back to school bash? Harvest celebration? Something? Maybe.
